You may have already seen this story, but if not, take a minute to read up on Carissa Yip. At the tender age of nine, this young chess enthusiast has moved her rating over 2000 — enough to make her an expert. In fact, she’s the youngest female expert in USCF history, and still has a full three years to break Irina Krush’s record for the youngest female master. It’s all the more impressive when you consider that she’s only been playing since 2010! I don’t have much to add other than to congratulate Carissa, and I recommend checking out the linked story (which comes with a fun video of her playing a blindfold game against a local reporter).
